Terms of service

Last updated: November 4, 2026

These terms apply to CodeAlta Desktop, CodeAlta TUI, CodeAlta Server, CodeAlta Node, this website, and the sign-in applications CodeAlta registers with Microsoft, Google and GitHub.

The software

CodeAlta is open-source software, distributed under the BSD 2-Clause license. The license gives your rights to use, copy, change and share it. These terms do not limit them.

Your use

  • You run CodeAlta on computers you are allowed to use, and you are responsible for what your agents do there: the commands they run, the files they change and what they send.
  • You follow the terms of the AI providers, plugins and services you connect to CodeAlta. Their use may cost you money, under their own pricing.
  • If you run a CodeAlta Server for other people, you are responsible for that server, for the data it keeps and for the people you let in.

Sign-in applications

The sign-in applications let you sign in to a CodeAlta Server with your Microsoft, Google or GitHub account. Do not use them for anything else, and do not try to get around their limits. They may change or stop if a provider changes its rules.

No warranty

CodeAlta is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, as the license says. AI agents can make mistakes: review their work before you rely on it.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, the authors of CodeAlta are not liable for any damage that comes from using CodeAlta or from not being able to use it, including the loss of data or the cost of the services you connect.

Changes

Changes to these terms are published on this page, with the date of the last update.
